    Amy is a painter and photographer who finds zen in the chaos of nature - birds, trees, sky, and water. Her work spans traditional photography, texture-layered images, and semi-abstract impressionist paintings, capturing fleeting moments and unseen emotions. Based on Vancouver Island, she often creates with her neighbour’s dog, Buddy, close by - convinced his input is essential. It’s complicated, and it’s what she does best.

    Rumour Blunt is a student at NIC in the fine arts diploma, deeply interested in printmaking, ceramics and painting. His work is often inspired by insects and aquatic life; extinct and present, as well as a lucid form of everyday objects. He hopes to create more whimsy in everyone’s home.

    Jennell Ellis

    Jennell creates unique artwork from her home studio in Courtenay, blending two distinct techniques: encaustic painting and cyanotype photography. In her encaustic work, layers of wax, tree resin, and pigment are fused with heat to create durable, textured pieces. Her cyanotypes, exposed to sunlight or UV light, often become “wet cyanotypes,” enhanced with water, vinegar, and other materials to achieve rich, layered effects.

    Tresa moved to Comox in 2016 and discovered her passion for fused glass. Drawing on her background in various crafts, she creates vibrant pieces from hand-cut fusing glass, often incorporating murrini, dichroic glass, and mica. Each piece is carefully arranged and kiln-fired, sometimes multiple times. Tresa hopes her art brings as much joy to others as it does to her.

    Charley Farrero

    From Paris, France, Charley Farrero has worked as a ceramic artist since 1972. He studied Fine Arts in Regina, SK, and currently lives and works as an artist in Meacham, SK, and Courtenay, BC. “I am attracted by all ceramic processes. My sculptural ceramic pieces incorporate slip cast objects, hand-built additions, grout, ceramic frames and shards, commercial tiles and found objects. I did not adopt a school of thought or a trend. I had to invent one: my own voice."

    Hélène Goulet

    Hélène Goulet, a retired classroom and resource teacher, now focuses on her artwork, including Zentangle, alcohol ink painting, watercolour, and calligraphy. Recently, she has been exploring alcohol inks to create landscape paintings, semi-abstract floral designs on coasters, and a range of handmade jewelry, trinket dishes, bookmarks, and cards. This past year Helene started offering zentangle inspired classes at the Black Creek Community Centre.

    Linda is a Canadian artist based in beautiful Qualicum Beach, where her garden is a constant source of inspiration. Her vibrant acrylic paintings often feature colourful garden scenes and vases of bright blooms. She also experiments with watercolour, pastel, and mixed media, incorporating torn paper, fabric, yarn, and other found materials. Working intuitively, Linda begins with spontaneous lines or colours and lets each piece unfold naturally without a set plan.

Currently, Teresa specializes in felt-making, creating sculptural and two-dimensional textile art and wearable pieces using wet and needle felting techniques.

    I am a potter from Gold River and I work with my husband in our studio, Island Clayworks. My work is inspired by nature and I incorporate leaf designs and florals through a technique called sgrafitto. I also add assemblage to work such as shells or more florals/leaves. I feel like the clay surface is a blank canvas ready to receive whatever embellishments I want to add. My work varies as I have many finishes I like to use, so I don't get bored making the same thing all the time.

    I am committed to using mostly reclaimed and locally sourced wood. I use various woods, and I make numerous products in my home workshop, ie, cutting boards, charcuterie boards, sushi boards, coasters, coat racks, Christmas decorations. Because I use reclaimed wood, the process is lengthy and each product is an original design, and completely handmade. Each kitchen piece is finished with food safe mineral oil and wax.

As part of the Sixties Scoop, she was adopted and raised outside her Indigenous community and is still on a journey of self-discovery. Her art, while not traditional First Nations work, allows her to explore and express her Indigenous identity.

Each piece is handmade from cherry, maple, or walnut, then finished with food-grade oils and wood-burned details.

Helena has lived in the valley with her husband, scruffy dog Vato, and fat cat Orca since 2012.

    Terri Stelfox received her BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2015, following her Fine Arts Diploma from North Island College in 2006. Along the way, she has lived in three provinces and raised two children while attending workshops at various institutions, including Red Deer College and Dedalo Studio in Italy. Currently, her main focus is on printmaking, emphasizing experimentation and technical processes in her work.
