Joan Udell

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Joan brings extensive experience in education and arts leadership, with a strong background in board governance. After a 20-year teaching career, she led the Yellowhead Regional Arts Festival and helped establish The Creative Campus through a major regional grant.

Her leadership in the arts continued as a board member—and later Chair—of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Since relocating to the Comox Valley in 2016, she has served on the boards of the Comox Valley Arts Council, Elder College, and the Cumberland Culture and Arts Society, contributing approximately two years to each.

Passionate about the arts and community engagement, she continues to deepen her knowledge through art classes and enjoys an active lifestyle in the Valley.
