Keith has been producing oil and pastel paintings since the 1970s. Growing up in a rural environment he was inspired at an early age by the natural beauty of his surroundings. He was drawn into sketching, photography, classical oils, and finally pastel painting.
He now paints mainly using soft pastels on sanded paper. His style is realist, and he uses under painting and multiple fine layers of colour to create the desired effect. He says what inspires him to paint is capturing those fleeting moments when light, shadow, and colour, combine to enhance the natural everyday beauty of our world.
He has travelled Canada coast to coast photographing subject matter and has produced landscapes and coastal seascapes from P.E.I. to Vancouver Island.
Keith has won awards at juried art shows and is a current member of both the Pearl Ellis Gallery located in the Town of Comox and the Fort Erie Arts Council in Ontario.
