After studying Fine Arts at the University of Alberta, I spent several years in illustration and graphic design, working in pen and ink. But painting always called to me, and eventually I gave it my full attention.

As my commitment grew, I relocated to the Arc, a live/work studio in east Vancouver, to focus on the surrounding urban landscape, especially the alleys. The companionship of other artists was a great motivation for creativity and personal progress. Later on, some time spent in Texas infused me with a recharged love of colour, as well as an interest in vintage and ‘roots’ themes which then appeared in my work.

Acrylic on canvas is my preferred paint medium, and the art is usually representational. My paintings focus on the world around me rather than on any internal enigmas. Lately I have been working in collage, creating mixed media art journals, emphasizing visual and graphic elements of line, colour, and pattern. These often deal with more speculative themes.

Over the last 20 years, I have shown in venues in and around Vancouver and the Island. I currently work from my Courtenay home.
