October News
Happy October from the Pearl Ellis Gallery!
Autumn is in full swing, and we’re feeling inspired by the season’s rich colours and creative energy. Here’s what’s happening at the gallery this month and beyond.
Current Show
As the weather cools down, the brilliant hues of fall surround us. Inside the gallery, that same sense of warmth and vitality fills the space with our current show, The Healing. These works were created collaboratively by a group of friends in support of Josh Klassen, who was undergoing treatment for cancer. The resulting artworks buzz with energy and the healing spirit of intentional positivity.
At the show’s opening reception, guests were invited to contribute to a blank canvas, adding their own marks of encouragement and creativity. This communal piece will remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, inviting visitors to continue adding to it and becoming part of the ongoing expression of healing and connection.
The Healing runs until November 8th.
Giftables: Comox Holiday Market
Mark Your Calendars – Giftables is Coming!
From November 11th to 22nd (yes, we’ll be open on Remembrance Day!), the gallery will be transformed into a holiday pop-up shop featuring beautiful, handcrafted gifts from over 50 local artists and makers. Discover one-of-a-kind pieces perfect for holiday giving, with prices under $200—and plenty of treasures between $5 and $50.
We’ll also be open late until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 14th and Friday, November 21st. Stop by on the 21st during the Comox Mayor’s Tree Lighting & Winter Market (3–7 p.m.) for an extra dose of holiday spirit—enjoy the festivities downtown, then pop into the gallery for some relaxed evening shopping.
Please note: The gallery will be closed from November 24–28 while new flooring is installed. We are deeply grateful to the Town of Comox for this wonderful upgrade. Because of this brief closure, the timeline for our final show of the year, Joy, will be shorter than usual, running from December 2 to 20. Due to this shortened timeline and as a token of appreciation to our members, we’ll be waiving the submission fee for the show. Since we anticipate a large number of submissions, Since we anticipate a large number of submissions, we may need to limit acceptance to one piece per member, but this decision will be finalized when the submission window
